It’s time to tell Planned Parenthood to “go fund itself.” For too long, Americans have subsidized the industrial abortion complex. With a mandate to govern, conservatives must prioritize defunding Planned Parenthood once and for all.
Planned Parenthood’s own reports reveal that taxpayer dollars subsidize its infrastructure, freeing other resources to expand abortion services. The Hyde Amendment prohibits federal funds from being used for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is at risk. However, a closer look at its finances shows the organization is profiting from the deaths of innocent babies while using more than $600 million in federal funding annually to bolster its operations.
According to its most recent financial report (2021-22), Planned Parenthood performed nearly 400,000 abortions in a single year, generating significant revenue. While the organization claims to provide “comprehensive health care services,” the numbers tell a different story. Prenatal care was provided to just 6,244 women, and only 1,803 adoption referrals were made. Meanwhile, trivial services, such as distributing condoms, are tallied to inflate the perception of comprehensive care. In reality, abortion remains Planned Parenthood’s primary profit engine, with more than $670 million in taxpayer funding propping it up.
Critics argue that defunding Planned Parenthood would harm women in low-income communities. However, this claim overlooks the 8,000 federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) across the U.S., many located in underserved areas and well-equipped to provide genuine health services to women.
Planned Parenthood reported a record $1.9 billion in total revenue for 2021-22, with more than a third of its funding coming from American taxpayers. Another significant portion comes from ending the lives of unborn children. This reliance on taxpayer funding to sustain such practices is unacceptable.
Conservatives must seize this moment to advance policies that uphold the sanctity of life, for the one-blood human race, from the womb to the tomb and beyond. Defunding Planned Parenthood is a necessary first step toward broader cultural renewal, a society that values every human life from conception to natural death.
