Black Prolife Coalition Requests Congressional Investigation

ATLANTA, August 12, 2024/BPALiveWire - Members of the Black Prolife Coalition are calling for an immediate investigation and defunding of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Over the last three years, Planned Parenthood has received more than $1.8 billion in taxpayer funds, which the Coalition argues violates the 14th Amendment, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, fraud statutes, and other federal laws.

The Coalition believes Planned Parenthood misleads women by promoting false information, such as "abortion is safe" and "abortion is healthcare." In order to divert attention from the fact that babies in the womb are persons the organization frequently uses terms like reproductive health, reproductive justice, choice, family planning, patient autonomy, and ending a pregnancy to steer Black women toward abortion. However, and as Justice Potter Stewart noted in the Roe v. Wade case, if babies are persons, they are entitled to equal protection and due process under the 14th Amendment.

For more than 85 years, Black women and their babies have been targeted because of their race. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 aimed to end segregation and discrimination in education, public accommodations, and federally assisted programs, Planned Parenthood has continued its targeting practices. The organization has focused on abortion, as no country has reduced its population growth without it. In 1973, under the leadership of Alan Guttmacher—whom Henry Kissinger described as “one of the most knowledgeable and active population suppression experts of all time”—Planned Parenthood increased their targeting that began with The Negro Project in 1939.

The impact of abortion on the growth of the Black population has been devastating. Arnold Culbreath of the Douglass Leadership Institute points out that “while Black Americans made up 13.9% of the population in the 2020 Census, 41.5% of abortions reported to the CDC in 2021 were performed on Black women, three times their representation in the nation. Since 1973, more Black lives have been aborted than the entire Black population in 1960”.

In 2020, Planned Parenthood acknowledged its foundation of white supremacy and systemic racism. “Current Planned Parenthood president, Alexis McGill Johnson, referred to it as ‘privileging whiteness,’” said Catherine Davis of The Restoration Project. However, Davis notes that removing Margaret Sanger’s name from the building did nothing to address Guttmacher’s eugenic aggression toward Black women.

Walter Hoye of the Issues4Life Foundation warns that “Black America is facing a crisis of irreversibility”. A Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 2.1 is required for a culture to maintain itself over 25 years, yet Black America’s current TFR is 1.4. While crime, education, and unemployment are critical issues, Hoye emphasizes that if the abortion industry’s targeting and the decline in Black births are not stopped, Black America will cease to exist.

The Coalition asserts that the inalienable right to life of Black infants in the womb has been compromised by Planned Parenthood and the many corporations, foundations, and individuals who have funded their efforts. Accountability is long overdue and the Congress is being asked to pursue it.
